A short break but few long nights......

mystical steppes

I was in KL over the last weekend, just for a short break - I really need some breaks after a 'long over due' sickness while in Miri. Arrived in KL on Friday noon, just the right timing for Friday prayer at KLIA Masjid - for the first time I wore 'Baju Melayu' while travelling in the plane. Later that night, I invited my uncle and X-xis for a birthday dinner treat at Al-Daifah Arab Restaurant in Seri Petaling. Delicious authentic Middle eastern cuisines, we had babaganoush and hummush as an appertizer, Lebanese salad, bread, tomato soup, bbq chicken mandey rice, spice rice with lamb, dessert and Arab coffee - a mixture of pure blend Arabica coffees and cardammon spice, remedy for my running nose perhaps. Saturday begin with some shopping at Mid Valley before we rushing to a wedding in Gombak - thanks to Shahril Aley for the invitation. So, there were X-xis - Bila Pena Menari, Nurul-The Serial Plant Killer and Shahril Aley - the common patrons of Tepak Sireh's blog, sitting together while having some light conversation. Next stop was Lot10, it has been an ages since my last visit to this shopping mall - physically it is still the same dark green building with specialty stores/boutiques, interior wise...well.... it's the same old thingy. Managed to grab few things here.
Quick dinner at Chakri Palace in KLCC and then we proceed to KL Convention Center for the Mystical Steppes show. It's a charity show for a good cause, the nett sale of the tickets will go to the charity organisations (Hospice, orphanage centers etc). The Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar Dance Troupe from China entertained the audiences with their multi-cultural dances - "It was also the crossroads at which Chinese, Turkic, Tibetan, and Mongol empires communicated and struggled with each other. Due to its strategic position, it is no wonder that Xinjiang, whose capital is Urumqi, is a melting pot of ethnicities and cultures, whose influences can be seen in the Mystical Steppes: Along the Silk Road". Click here to view some of the shows.
My visit to KL will not complete if I dont go for a meal at Little Penang restaurant, yup.... my all time favourite. And there we were having dinner at KLCC branch, thought of ordering more foods but my belly capacity just too small to handle - but managed to swallowed 3 crunchy Pie Tie and a bowl of Penang Laksa! And just before bedtime, I had a plate of Nasi Lemak wrapped in banana leaf with rendang ayam, bergedel and chilli squids.....blurrrpppp!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alhamdulillah....

Seiko Sportura

This is SEIKO Sportura Kinetic All-Star Chronograph watch - its a quartz chronograph, meaning no battery used and using energy from the movement "kinetic", 5 months autonomy on full charge, non-reflective sapphire glass, 10 bar water resistence and transparent with screw case-backs. This model were developed with Honda Racing F1 Team. I like it very much that I bought one of it (exactly the same as in the pic above) although it cost me around USD$500 - just to commemorate my 1st anniversary in the Company.

keroncong

Thanks very much to Rhon in Batam for the 2 CDs of Keroncong he posted via Singapore. My ever favourite Indonesian Diva - Hetty Koes Endang - The Best Pop Keroncong is a remake of popular pop songs but in keroncong mood. The other one is a classic keroncong called "14 Bintang Keroncong" sung by various well known Indonesian keroncong artists. Its not a surprise for a Johorean like me to love keroncong as our state promotes the genre in local radio Best104 on the request by the Sultan himself and more than 65% of Johorean are Javanese ethnic. I'm 1/4 Javanese anyway.

first of all - happy 1st anniversary at your workplace. secondly... the restaurant is called Al-Diafah.. not Al-Daifah. Thirdly, you didn't only have 3 pie tie.. but also almost a bowl of Assam Laksa.. You also had 1 1/2 plates of rice with fishhead curry.. :D But you forgot to eat that ice cream... 143!
